The Gallic Rooster played a vital role during the French Revolution in 1789 to 1799. The symbol was meant to inspire vigilance, confidence and justice. During the late 1830’s, the rooster temporarily replaced the Fleur-de-lis as the official symbol until the age of Napoleon III.
