2010 American Silver Eagle
Approved for mintage by Congress in 1985, the beautiful Silver Eagle was first available for sale to the public in 1986 by the United States Mint.
It is the official silver bullion coin of the United States and is the only coin whose purity and weight is guaranteed by the U.S. Government.
Each 2010 American Silver eagle coin contains 31.1 grams of silver, which is a full troy ounce.
Copper is also added to the coin to help increase durability and resist scratching and marring.
The American Silver Eagle is credited as being the best selling silver coin in the world. Since its release in 1986, over 130 million have been sold. It is struck only in 1 troy oz denominations and has a face value of $1.
The American Silver Eagle's style and design draws on A.A. Weinman's Walking Liberty, unveiled on the 1917 silver half dollar.
An eagle along with a shield, exhibiting American power and pride, backs this powerful picture of liberty.
