Canadian Silver Dollar The Canadian Silver dollar was first issued in 1935 by the Royal Canadian Mint to celebrate King George V Silver Jubilee. The design on the reverse side features two "voyageurs" or intrepid explorers who are paddling a birch bark canoe. In the background, the faint lines are illustrative of the great Northern Lights. On the obverse side is a portrait of England's Queen Elizabeth II.

These beautiful classic silver coins were the very last government minted regular issue pure eighty percent silver dollars. Discontinued in 1966, they are difficult to find. However, they are worth searching for and obtaining as they offer a double investment advantage of being both a silver bullion coin and a scarce collectible. Despite their outstanding profit potential, they generally trade for just a bit more than the melt value of their silver.

Reasons To Buy:

  1. Scarcity
Because they are no longer being produced, Canadian Silver dollars are limited in suppl
  2. Leverage
Most modern silver bullion coins are leveraged to the price of silver. As the price of silver rises, they increase in value. Candian silver dollars fetch an additional premium because of their scarcity and collectibility. During times of rising silver prices, their value tends to go up at a higher rate than would a modern bullion coin.
  3. Liquidity
Worldwide recognition due to their exceptional silver content and outstanding minting.
  4. Price
Considering their age, high demand and relative scarcity, they generally trade at a relatively low premium over their melt value.
  5. Privacy
No IRS reporting requirements when sold.
